INESAD
Description
INESAD’s Mission:
To generate, disseminate and transfer knowledge aiming to overcome obstacles that are critical to sustainable socioeconomic development, seeking to have an effect on public policies
INESAD’s Vision:
To be a leading center for research in sustainable socioeconomic development, acclaimed in the national and international spheres for the quality and relevance of its research, and having an effect on public policies
INESAD (Instituto de Estudios Avanzados en Desarrollo – Institute for Advanced Development Studies) was established in 2006 with the aim of fostering socioeconomic and environmental research, with a team of researchers seeking innovating and impartial answers – based on theory and empirical evidence – for providing solutions to issues facing development. In 2011 INESAD changed its legal status from civil society organization to foundation.
Since its establishment, INESAD has carried out different research and analysis projects for government, international organizations, research centers, and private entities, among others, by means of calls as well as direct invitations. The fruits of these efforts are a series of technical-academic inputs that have contributed towards generating knowledge and developing policies and programs: a variety of publications and studies, didactic tools, knowledge dissemination workshops, and debating events, to name a few.
INESAD’s work has allowed positioning the entity as a leading think tank in Bolivia and the world. According to the index of the 2020 Global Go To Think Tank Report of the University of Pennsylvania, the foundation is the prime think tank of Bolivia, among 66 candidates, and is in the top 3.5% of the best think tanks of South and Central America. Also, INESAD stands out in the field of environmental policies and is considered a Think Tank to Watch – which relates to excellence in research and innovating progress – in positions 63 and 107, respectively, out of 6,846 institutions. In addition, in the IDEAS/RePEc rankings of best institutions of its kind in Bolivia, Fundación INESAD is in second place, and ranks first in terms of best authors, out of 15 institutions (December 2024).
