About

Ashinaga Brasil is a Brazilian non-profit organisation, headquartered in São Paulo, Brazil. Established in 2019, the organisation aims to expand the work of the Ashinaga movement, which began 50 years ago in Japan, by offering fully-funded university scholarships for talented young students from Portuguese-speaking countries in the African continent (Angola, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, and Sao Tome and Principe) to study at top institutions in Brazil. Together with partners around the world, Ashinaga Brasil operates in the spirit of South-South Triangular Cooperation, providing financial support and leadership training so that scholars have the tools and skills necessary to implement change in their communities in the long-term.
