IGES Centre Collaborating with UNEP on Environmental Technologies (CCET)
Description
About CCET
The IGES Centre Collaborating with UNEP on Environmental Technologies (CCET) was founded in 2014 to assist national, regional and local governments with advancing appropriate, integrated, environmentally sound waste management systems, helping to direct a wider shift towards more resource efficient, climate friendly and sustainable societies. In collaboration with various key stakeholders, CCET supports partner governments with policy development, delivering institutional capacity and knowledge building, networking and outreach activities towards sustainable waste and resource management based on 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) principles.
Key Activities
1. Strengthening Waste Management Policy and Institutions: Work with partner governments and other key stakeholders to develop sustainable waste and resource management policies, strategies, and action plans at the national and local levels, as well as support their official adoption and pilot project implementation.
2. Building Capacity and Guiding Implementation: Develop specific knowledge materials such as case studies, policy recommendations, and guidelines, and also conduct training and capacity building programmes (in-person and online) for policy makers and practitioners to support the effective implementation of policies, strategies, and action plans.
3. Generating Impact through Partnerships and Networking: Share experience and expand knowledge of appropriate policies, technologies, and financing mechanisms for achieving sustainable waste and resource management by strengthening collaboration with stakeholders across the Asia-Pacific region.
