The Institute of Sociological, Political and Juridical Research of the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University was established over 50 years ago with a Decision of the University Council. The main objectives of the Institute are:

• to scientifically study sociological and political-legal phenomena in the country, to encourage and organize the study of the issues from the sociological and political-legal sciences and the development of the society;
• to develop and improve research methods in the social sciences;
• to work on the training of scientific staff and to prepare scientific youth in the field of sociological and political-legal sciences;
• to provide material and other conditions for study and research work;
• to organize various forms of work with professional staff, for their training for independent scientific work;
• to organize the collection of documentation for conducting practical classes and teaching exercises at the faculties and social sciences at the University of Skopje;
• to provide teaching of all degrees in social sciences for all faculties of the University of Skopje;
• to organize the presentation of the problems in the field of sociological and political-legal sciences through consultations, discussions and other appropriate forms;
• to provide and directly communicate the results of its scientific research work;
• to develop publications;
• to develop comprehensive cooperation with relevant institutions, organizations and individuals dealing with the study of sociological and political-legal sciences in the country and abroad.
