About SAF-Teso.
SAF-Teso is a UN-accredited indigenous non-profit organization founded in 2009, rooted in the Teso sub-region of Uganda and for over 15 years the organisation is operating at the intersection of community leadership and global policy.
The organisation bridges grassroots action with international frameworks to build resilient, self-determining communities across Uganda and beyond. It was established in response to overlapping crises facing communities in Teso and Karamoja: poor health access, environmental degradation, limited livelihood opportunities, and weak human rights protection.
SAF-Teso functions as both a coordinating hub for over 300 civil society organisations and a direct programme implementer.

SAF-Teso advances sustainable development through an integrated framework spanning public health, human rights and social inclusion, environmental justice, climate resilience and disaster risk reduction, inclusive governance, zero-waste management and circular economy, waste pickers\\\' integration, sustainable agriculture and community livelihoods, youth and women\\\'s empowerment, peacebuilding, and crime and atrocity prevention.
Anchored in indigenous knowledge and driven by community agency, the organization bridges grassroots action with international frameworks to build resilient, self-determining communities across Uganda and beyond.
SAF-Teso is registered with the Uganda NGO Board under the Ministry of Internal Affairs (Registration No. 3887). The organisation has established two anchor institutions: the Serere District NGO Network and the Olio Green Heritage Resilience and Skills Foundation.
