Description
About
The Institute for Mission and Research (IMR) is a department of the Pacific Theological College (PTC) in Suva, Fiji. It was established through the vision of the Pacific Theological College and the Pacific Conference of Churches in 1999. The goal of the organization is to assist faith-based organizations in being well-informed and effective actors for justice through advocacy, research and capacity building. This we do through learning exchange and engagement.
The Pacific Islands region, dubbed as paradise, renowned for its magnificent physical attributes and people are not without its challenges. Working with faith-based organizations, Pacific Island communities and its people, the institute hopes to help build a region that focusses on the wellbeing of its people, a wellbeing that is imbued with their peoples indigenous and faith-based knowledge and practices. The institutes work is scoped around 3 major areas: Capacity building, Personnel exchange and Research, advocacy and communications. In all these areas the IMR seeks to find ways to address issues of common concern in our Pacific region in dialogue with biblical principles and indigenous knowledge and traditions integrating notions of justice, peace and integrity of creation.
