The National Forestry Commission of Mexico (Spanish: Comisión Nacional Forestal or CONAFOR) is a a Decentralized Public Organization tasked with developing, supporting and promoting the conservation and restoration of Mexico’s forests, as well participating in the development of plans, programs and policies for sustainable forestry development. It was created by presidential decree on April 4, 2001, and is part of the Secretariat of the Environment and Natural Resources.
The Comission works on the promotion of productive conservation and restoration activities in forest matters, participates in the formulation of plans and programs, and in the application of the sustainable forestry development policy.
