About:
The Center for Peace Education and Community Development (Cepeacecode) was established in 1996 in the Nigerian state of Taraba, when an ethno crisis engulfed the state’s Wukari and Sardauna local government areas. The organization was founded by a group of concerned citizens who were trained by USAID/OTI in the area of Peace Management. By using dialogue to build peace and a participatory approach to engage people, we aim to train community leaders to identify early warning signs and mitigate any crisis within their localities.
Focus:
- Reproductive health and rights, population and development;
- Peace/Conflict and Environmental Education;
- Good Governance and Democracy;
- Poverty Reduction and financial services to poor.
Achievements:
- Establishment of NGO’s.
- Organizing/participating in land mark events such as international volunteer’s day, stand up campaign, ONE Campaign, DKF for NYSC/MDGs & SDGs/NYSC
- Participation in the formulation of Taraba state State Strategic Policy.
- Participation in the formulation of National Peace policy.
- Participation in the formulation of National Gender policy.
- Formulation of Taraba state Development Plan(SDP).
