Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences (BAAFS) was established in 1958. Over the past six decades, BAAFS has developed into a comprehensive research institution with 15 research institutes (centers) and covering diversified fields from agriculture and forestry to animal husbandry and fishery. BAAFS is committed to providing a strong guidance and support to the development of urban modern agriculture. BAAFS actively carries out the commercialization and application of agricultural scientific research achievements. The new cultivars, new technologies and new products of BAAFS have been popularized and applied in China. In addition, the scientific and technological achievements of hybrid wheat, edible corn and vegetables have been spread to the Belt and Road countries. BAAFS has conducted nearly 100 scientific projects with over 30 countries, such as the United States, the Netherlands, France and Canada; signed comprehensive cooperation agreements with universities and research institutes from over 30 countries; established 11 international joint laboratories, 2 national-level international cooperation bases and 7 municipal-level bases. We firmly believe that "open door policy" is the only way to build an innovative academy. We have been actively seeking opportunities for cooperation, innovating cooperation mechanisms, and promoting high-end and international development through opening-up. We hope to work together with the international counterparts for common development and contribute to ensuring food security in China and around the world, promoting sustainable development in the world, and contributing to human well-being.
