Azerbaijan National NGO Forum
Description
Azerbaijan National NGO Forum Public Association (NGO Forum) was established on June 11, 1999, by 95 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Baku. The forum\\\'s primary mission is to enhance the role of NGOs in Azerbaijani society, promote civil society development according to modern standards, and facilitate cooperation between NGOs and other stakeholders. It also aims to support civil society initiatives and assist NGOs in implementing projects that contribute to the country\\\'s development.
NGO Forum is an umbrella organization for around 700 NGOs in Azerbaijan, and is a strong advocate for the active participation of NGOs in decision making process related to the civil society development in Azerbaijan. NGO Forum played an active role in participation of NGOs globally at the COP29 on Climate Change in Baku, through initiation a global COP29 NGO Coalition consisting of around 500 NGOs from 100 countries of the world. The Global South NGO Platform (GSNP), launched in April 2025 in Baku with the initiative of the Azerbaijan National NGO Forum. Building on the adoption of the “Baku Principles,” the Platform has expanded its scope of activities over the past three months, strengthening its Secretariat, deepening partnerships, and amplifying Global South civil society voices in global policy debates.
