Africa Research & Impact Networks
Description
About
The Africa Research and Impact Network (ARIN) is an international think tank comprising a network of over 200 researchers and policymakers, with National Focal Points in 36 African countries. ARIN’s goals are twofold:
- Consolidating evidence from diverse African contexts to support policies and capacity building.
- Promoting research excellence and the sharing of best research and impact practices.
With extensive experience in generating and consolidating evidence, ARIN focuses on key strategic sectors within the global research and development agenda. It serves as a unique platform for the science-policy interface in Africa, capitalizing on research evidence. It recognizes Africa’s wealth of researchers, innovation, and best policy practices, which often remain underutilized.
ARIN facilitates a peer review platform where the best research and impact practices from different African contexts are shared, profiled, and leveraged to drive transformative policy actions.
ARIN’s thematic focus is customized to address sectors identified by African countries as key development priorities, which may vary from country to country in terms of emphasis. Within these thematic areas, ARIN concentrates on:
- Analyzing and forecasting research and development needs for the continent.
- Supporting contextual knowledge systems and learning.
- Profiling models of best research and policy practices from various parts of the African continent and sharing these at subcontinental and continental levels.
- Convening evidence and impact dialogues.
- Enhancing the capacity of individuals and institutions for transformative research and impact pathways.
- Establishing knowledge convening platforms and databases accessible to various stakeholders.
- Undertaking strategic consultations for governments, donors, and NGOs.
