Women’s rights are human rights – As we embark on this year’s 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) joins the campaign to amplify the voices against Gender-Based Violence.
We seize this opportunity to recognize the transformative potential of South-South and triangular cooperation in addressing the challenge of gender-based violence (GBV). Fostering collaboration among developing countries has become a catalyst for positive change. Through the exchange of best practices, cultural insights, and resources, countries within the Global South are collectively building capacity, harmonizing policies, and bolstering advocacy efforts to effectively combat gender-based violence. This campaign serves as a reminder of the need for collaborative efforts to eradicate GBV and build a world where everyone can live free from violence.

In addition to sharing successful strategies, South-South and triangular cooperation is a dynamic process that fosters the development of culturally sensitive approaches, cross-border initiatives, technology transfers, and innovative solutions to enhance reporting mechanisms, information accessibility, and support services. By capitalizing on similar cultural contexts and experiences, South-South cooperation can generate impactful interventions that significantly contribute to the global fight against GBV.
