Between 17 and 19 September 2019, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) organized the first Meeting of Rural Leaders and Project Managers in the Expanded Mercosur, in Juazeiro, Brazil. The event brought together the leaders of the Confederation of Organizations of Family Producers of the Expanded Mercosur (COPROFAM), the IFAD team in the region, and the coordinators of IFAD-financed projects in six Latin American countries. The objective was to discuss the management and results obtained by the projects, exchange good practices and lessons learned, and promote rapprochement and dialogue between IFAD projects and COPROFAM organizations.
This publication is not only a reminder of an important moment of the meeting between leaders and institutions at the regional level of Mercosur, but also brings an overview of the main challenges shared by family farming with initiatives that have yielded positive results.
