Fund for Triangular Cooperation with Asia

Triangular cooperation has been recognized by the Government of Germany as an effective tool to foster partnerships, mutual understanding and trust between those involved. The Fund for Triangular Cooperation with Asia is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).The Fund seeks to promote sustainable development in developing countries via triangular cooperation by creating a support mechanism that encompasses three fields of action:

  1. Implementation of Triangular Cooperation projects (based on joint agreements and calls for proposal)
  2. Policy Dialogue
  3. Capacity Development

Calls for Proposals

The Fund will hold separate Country Calls for specific Asian countries, particularly those that are providing significant South-South Cooperation to other countries. You can participate in the Call for Proposal assuming either the role of Pivotal Partner, or Beneficiary Partner in Triangular Cooperation. You can access the Country Calls here.

Minimum participation requirements:

1. For organizations pursuing the role of Pivotal Partner

  • Your organization should be from an Asian country where the Fund announces a Country Call.
  • You have a partner organization in a developing country, who develops the Triangular Cooperation idea together with you.
  • Your Triangular Cooperation idea contributes to at least one of the Sustainable Development Goals to solve the practical challenges in a third country.
  • Your organization can contribute technical expertise and/or funding to the Triangular Cooperation idea jointly with the Fund.

2. For organizations pursuing the role of Beneficiary Partner

  • Your organization should be from a developing country.
  • You have a partner organization in an Asian country where the Fund announces a Country Call, who develops the Triangular Cooperation idea together with you.
  • Your Triangular Cooperation idea contributes to at least one of the Sustainable Development Goals to solve the practical challenges in a third country.
