Key Partner:

Global Carbon Council (GCC) is an affiliate organization of GORD. GCC is the MENA region’s first voluntary carbon market with international reach. It facilitates global stakeholders in implementing climate actions through a voluntary carbon offsetting program. The overall purpose of GCC is to contribute to achieving the Paris Agreement objective of limiting global warming to 1.5°C by developing relevant standards and frameworks for voluntary carbon markets to catalyze, enhance, and leverage climate change mitigation finance globally and especially for the MENA region.  In the Global South, GCC is the only international program fully accredited by ICAO’s CORSIA. GCC is also accredited by ICROA. For more information,

GORD and South-South Cooperation:

At the COP29, which took place in Baku, Azerbaijan, GORD and its affiliate, GCC, underscored their commitment to addressing global climate challenges through a series of strategic collaborations with international and regional organizations. An MoU was signed at COP29 between GORD and UNOSSC. This collaboration marked a pivotal step in the effort to foster collaboration across the Global South.

Through this MoU, GORD will play a key role in the South-South and Triangular Cooperation Solutions Lab, a groundbreaking initiative designed to leverage the collective expertise of countries in the Global South, while also incorporating triangular cooperation with the Global North.

The lab aims to accelerate the achievement of the SDGs by scaling up innovative, locally driven solutions in sectors such as climate action, clean energy, health, and sustainable agriculture.
