Statistics Mauritius

Statistics Mauritius (SM) is the main national provider of official statistics working under the aegis of the Ministry of Finance. SM operates under the Statistics Act and is responsible for the collection, compilation, analysis and dissemination of official statistics relating to all aspects of the economic, demographic and social activities with a few exceptions like monetary and health statistics which fall under the responsibility of the national organisations. Statistics are produced, together with metadata, are disseminated on websites. Our Mission is to provide coherent, timely, relevant and reliable statistics, consistent with international principles and standards, as laid down in the Act, for effective policy and decision-making, and for monitoring national development processes as well as reporting to international framework.
