Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Research Institute
Description
The Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as \"SAIRI\") shoulders the important mission of strategically developing the AI sector as part of Shanghai’s efforts to build a global science and technology innovation hub. Committed to institutional innovation and pioneering practices, the Institute aims to create a new type of research and development institution characterized by diverse participation, open collaboration, international coordination, and domestic leadership. The Institute remains focused on the frontiers of global science and technology, the central battlefield of economic development, and major national needs. It concentrates on real industry demands, real data, and real-world scenarios. Leveraging the advanced manufacturing industry and Shanghai\'s \"3+6\" new industrial system, the Institute is constructing a functional platform for AI R&D and industrial transformation in Shanghai, positioning itself as a strong force driving the development of China\'s AI industry clusters.
The Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Research Institute was jointly founded by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the People\'s Government of Minhang District of Shanghai, Lingang Group, and SenseTime. The Institute focuses on building three key platforms: a high-end professional think tank, an R&D and industrial transformation platform, and a platform for industrial-financial and ecosystem innovation. It is tasked with advancing AI research and transformation in Shanghai, with key initiatives including fundamental and core AI technology research, the application of critical and shared technologies, the development of next-generation AI demonstration scenarios, technology transfer, and talent development.
